Arm Prostheses
Custom-made arm prostheses promote independence, function, and quality of life
Arm prostheses replace missing or malformed limbs and help users perform everyday movements as independently as possible. They can improve grasping functions, facilitate functional activities, and contribute to a natural sense of the body.
Depending on the level of amputation, functional requirements, and personal goals, various prosthetic systems are available. The spectrum ranges from passive Prothesen to body-powered systems and modern myoelectric arm prostheses, which convert muscle impulses into targeted movements, thereby enabling the user to grasp and hold various objects.
A particular focus is placed on the individualized fitting of modern arm prostheses. Each prosthesis is tailored to the patient’s personal needs, daily life, and professional and athletic goals. In addition to fabrication and fitting, functional testing, training, and ongoing follow-up care are all integral to a successful fitting.
Close collaboration with the Paralympic Training Center in Cottbus underscores our specialized expertise in upper limb prosthetics. Among others, elite athletes such as Paralympic shot putter Matthias Schulze are supported with customized prosthetic fittings.
The goal is to promote independence, mobility, and participation in professional, athletic, and personal life, as well as to improve quality of life in the long term.
